Education

This fall, I will be a freshman at Cal State University Long Beach. I, like many other of my fellow graduates, have not yet decided on a major and so have gone in undeclared. I am currently going into college with my high school GPA of 4.33 and with numerous AP credits from courses that I took in the past four years.

Experience

I tutored a junior in high school this last year in preparation for the CAHSEE, SAT, and in his english and Algebra 1 classes. He ended up passing the CAHSEE with flying colors, his SAT scores were very good, and he ended the year with straight A's. I was able to break down the information and concepts so he could grasp them more easily and be prepared for the questions he was going to face on those exams. I gave him catch phrases, and cheesy songs, and stupid rhymes to remember rules and methods, and though they seemed ridiculous at the time, he found them quite useful on the day of the test. I took all AP classes my last two years of high school, and one my sophomore year, passing with an A or a B in all of them. I took the tests for all of them and passed all but two. I truly enjoy being able to help others succeed, and I believe that so many students have the ability to be successful, they just need help to get there. I would like to be able to help them get there and achieve any and all academic goals they set for themselves. I am very familiar with the style and material in AP courses, I know how to explain it to make the information easier to understand, and I would like to help your student reach their goals and succeed.

Hobbies

From sophomore year to senior year, I was part of my school's improvisational comedy team and theater guild. I participated in completely improvised comedy shows on the weekends and worked backstage at a few of our school's main stage productions. Since graduating, I have joined an adult improv group with my coaches from my high school team, and we now perform hour and a half musicals that we make up on the spot based on a single suggestion from the audience and with the help of our accompanist. I also dabble in playing the ukelele and have taken to teaching myself popular songs with the help of YouTube tutorials. I know a total of 7 chords and that's good enough for me! Some of my favorite pastimes include binge watching shows on Netflix and searching for the best donut shops in Southern California. I also very much enjoy creative writing and often write short stories, poetry, spoken word, songs, and scenes. Lastly, I absolutely love to travel! My dream is visit and perhaps live in Scotland one day.
