Experience

Teaching/Assistantship Experience I have assisted in helping as a T.A. at CSU Bakersfield in the following courses: Psych 300A Understanding Psychological Research Psych 304 Cognitive Psychology I have served as a GA in the 305L Cognitive Psychology Lab class at CSU Fullerton in Spring 2011 The above positions have put me in circumstances where I've done grading, tutoring, and a lot of reading and writing. Having been in academia for a long time, I know I've done well when I've helped mentor and tutor other students. I love reading and writing especially but my experience in many different disciplines of study make me an excellent candidate to tutor other. I am great at learning subjects and relating them to others in terms they can follow. My experience can also practically serve to help students who would like to enter into, or are already in higher educational institutions. I am especially savvy to sciences from the Humanities (Psychology, Philosophy, Anthropology) as well as English, Basic Math up to Algebra, Statistics, Social Studies, History, and Biology including human biology. I always look to achieve high standards and excellence. I know how to treat children, clients, and customers. I can provide provide friendly and effective service. I'm very good at learning new things, and I thrive on pushing myself to work hard. As I am a gradate student working on my MS in Clinical Psychology, I believe I have the skills necessary to interact with others and meet client needs, a strong work ethic to get things done, and a dependable personality that makes me someone who can be counted on. Research Interests I am interested in social and cognitive psychology, especially gendered attitudes towards different social areas. Specifically, I am interested in the role that gender plays, implicitly, in possible covert misogynistic paradigms/constructs. Past Research My senior research project at CSU Bakersfield was on the possible link between wearing high heels and misogyny. To prepare for working on my senior thesis, I have helped assist in a cognitive lab for the past two school quarters. My duties in this lab have included stimulus preparation, experimental programming, data collection, and preliminary data analysis. This research will be submitted for presentation at the Association for Psychological Science this spring. My work in this lab will continue for the next two quarters as well. For these I have used Analyses of Variance as the main statistical tool. Current Research My current research will focus on gendered implicit associations of good or bad feelings towards violence, aggression, or sadistic attraction. My future interests in research will probably be focused in the area of cognitive-social psychology. Additionally, I am studying predictors for one-night stands utilizing logistic regression analysis as the main statistical tool.
